הבית בקלוסטר היה גמור כשנכנסתי: קירות לבנים, רצפת אלון בלוחות רחבים, תקרת קורות, דלתות זכוכית במסגרת שחורה שנפתחות אל העצים. כל גימור היה נכון. מה שעוד לא היה לו הוא נקודת מבט. המשימה הייתה לחזק את האופי האדריכלי של הבית ולהוסיף עומק לעיצוב הפנים, עם עבודות של אמנים יהודים וישראלים לצד קולות עכשוויים אחרים, שנקראות כאוסף אחד. בניתי אותו חדר אחר חדר עם גלריות מובילות בניו יורק וניהלתי את הרשימות הקצרות, המשא ומתן, המשלוח, המסגור וההתקנה. לפרויקט בקלוסטר.

Bergen County homes and the art they ask for
The most common thing I see in Bergen County is a beautiful house, finished to the last detail, with art bought in a hurry during the final month because the walls looked bare at the walkthrough. The house deserved better, and so did the owners.
The fix is simple: decide early that art is part of the plan. While the architect is still drawing, a few decisions cost almost nothing: which walls are for art and which are for windows and millwork, where a large work will need support inside the wall, where picture lights go, whether the stair hall wants one tall piece or a sequence. Made then, these are pencil lines. Made after the drywall, they are an electrician and a patch. If your house is already finished, it is not too late; there are simply fewer options for lighting and hanging, and I work with what is there. More in art for a new build in Bergen County.
Where I work in Bergen County
I live and work in Tenafly, and one of my recent collections is for a new house in nearby Closter. From Tenafly, any site visit in the county is a short drive, which matters when a builder schedules the walkthrough for a Tuesday morning. I also work across the rest of New Jersey and in New York City.
A Bergen County project: new construction in Closter
The house in Closter was complete when I came in: white walls, wide plank oak floors, a beamed ceiling, black framed glass doors opening onto the trees. Every finish was right. What it did not have yet was a point of view. The brief was to raise the architectural character of the house and bring depth to the interior design, with works by Jewish and Israeli artists alongside other contemporary voices, reading as one collection. I built it room by room with leading New York City galleries and managed the shortlists, negotiation, shipping, framing and installation. See the Closter project.

I work alongside architects and interior designers, not around them. On a new build that means I read the plans, join the site meetings that matter and put my requests into the same schedule everyone else works to. My background
I have spent more than 15 years in the art world, with an M.A. in art history from Ben-Gurion University and a diploma in curatorial and museum studies from Tel Aviv University. Before THEODORA I did curatorial work in established museums and managed a gallery in Tel Aviv.
