A Bauhaus home gives you clean walls and a lot of light. Both are gifts, and both make demands. The wall wanted one strong image. The light meant that whatever went there had to be seen clearly from every angle, at every hour, without glare.

The image: a hyper collage

A hyper collage is a digital work built from many layered fragments, dense enough to reward a second and a third look. In a residence where the architecture is quiet, that density is the point. The eye has one place to go, and it keeps finding more when it gets there.

The medium: glossy anti reflective acrylic

Printing on acrylic gives a digital image depth and saturation that paper cannot match. The colors sit inside the surface rather than on top of it. Glossy acrylic has one weakness: in a bright room it mirrors the windows. Anti reflective acrylic keeps the depth and the shine and loses the reflection, so the work reads as one clear image at midday and from across the room.

On a piece like this, the print and the mount are half the work. I manage production through expert printmakers, framers and art installers, within a defined timeline and an approved budget. A weak print on the right acrylic is still a weak print, so the printmaker matters as much as the material.

Why one focal point

• A Bauhaus interior is already a composition. One work respects it; many works argue with it.
• A central focal point gives the room a center and lets the furniture arrange itself around it.
• One well produced piece is easier to live with over time than several that need to be balanced against each other.

Two Bauhaus homes, two answers

In a renovated Bauhaus home in Tel Aviv, the focal point was a work chosen for color and texture in a monochromatic space. Here it is a digital image chosen for depth and legibility. The architecture set the same question. The people gave different answers, which is how it should be.
