For this sea view villa in Caesarea I commissioned a 3.5 meter triptych from an Italian artist, three storks at its center. They stand for homecoming, strength and belonging: the homeowner's own journey as a new immigrant, and the storks that migrate through Israel every season.עבור וילה עם נוף לים בקיסריה הזמנתי מאמן איטלקי טריפטיך באורך 3.5 מטר, ובמרכזו שלוש חסידות. הן מסמלות שיבה הביתה, כוח ושייכות: המסע של בעל הבית כעולה חדש, והחסידות שנודדות דרך ישראל בכל עונה.
בעל הבית הפך את ישראל לביתו רק לאחרונה. הווילה פונה לים. הקיר היה זקוק לעבודה בקנה מידה אמיתי: 3.5 מטר. שלוש העובדות האלה הכריעו את הפרויקט עוד לפני ששם של אמן עלה על השולחן.
בכל עונה חסידות חולפות דרך ישראל בנדידתן. מי שגר על החוף הזה ראה אותן. עבור אדם שרק עכשיו העביר את כל חייו לארץ חדשה, הדימוי לא צריך הסבר: שלוש חסידות במרכז העבודה מסמלות שיבה הביתה, כוח ושייכות. הקומפוזיציה היא הסיפור של בעל הבית עצמו, מסופר בשפה שגם השכנים קוראים.
עבודה באורך 3.5 מטר כמעט אף פעם לא מחכה בגלריה, ואם היא שם, היא נוצרה לקיר של מישהו אחר. הזמנה פירושה שקנה המידה, הפלטה והנושא נקבעו עבור הבית הזה, ולכן העבודה שייכת לכאן ולשום מקום אחר. יצירה שנוצרה מתוך מחשבה על חלל וזהות מסוימים נושאת משמעות עמוקה יותר, ערך גבוה יותר, ונוכחות שאי אפשר לשחזר. זה הטיעון בעד הזמנה, במשפט אחד.
האמן איטלקי. אני בוחרת את היד לפי הסיפור ולא את הסיפור לפי היד, והסיפור הזה היה זקוק לצייר שיודע לתת לשלוש ציפורים נוכחות וקלילות על פני שלושה חלקים. העבודה הישירה מול האמן היא גם מה שמאפשר לי לשמור על מחיר תחרותי בהזמנה בקנה מידה כזה.
מהצד השני של החדר שלושת החלקים נקראים כקומפוזיציה אחת. מקרוב הם שלושה רגעים, והעין נודדת יחד עם הציפורים. בבית שחלונותיו פונים לים, התנועה הזאת במקומה.
העבודה לא מסתיימת עד שהיצירה מותקנת והלקוח מרוצה לגמרי. על הקיר הזה, זה אומר שלושה חלקים שנתלו כאחד.

The homeowner had just made Israel home. The villa faces the sea. The wall needed a work at real scale: 3.5 meters. Those three facts decided the project before a single artist was named.
Every season, storks pass through Israel on their migration. Anyone who lives on this coast has watched them. For a person who has just moved their whole life to a new country, the image needs no explanation: three storks at the center of the work stand for homecoming, strength and belonging. The composition is the homeowner's own story, told in a language the neighbors read too.
A 3.5 meter work is almost never waiting in a gallery, and if it is, it was made for someone else's wall. Commissioning meant the scale, the palette and the subject were decided for this house, so the work belongs here and nowhere else. A work made for a specific space and identity carries deeper meaning, greater value, and a presence that cannot be replicated. That is the case for a commission in one sentence.
The artist is Italian. I choose the hand for the story, not the story for the hand, and this story needed a painter who could give three birds presence and lightness across three panels. Working directly with the artist is also how I keep a commission at this scale competitively priced.
From across the room the three panels read as one composition. Up close they are three moments, and the eye travels with the birds. In a house whose windows face the sea, that movement belongs.
Work is not complete until the artwork is installed and the client is fully satisfied. On this wall, that meant three panels hung as one.
