For a private villa in Hod Hasharon, an open, light saturated home where concrete and nature meet, I chose a single large scale figurative digital artwork to define the emotional center of the space. One work, on the one wall the whole room turns toward.לווילה פרטית בהוד השרון, בית פתוח ורווי אור שבו בטון וטבע נפגשים, בחרתי עבודה דיגיטלית פיגורטיבית אחת בקנה מידה גדול שתגדיר את המרכז הרגשי של החלל. עבודה אחת, על הקיר האחד שכל החדר פונה אליו.
חלל המגורים נמשך לכל רוחב הבית מתחת לקורת עץ כהה אחת, עם זכוכית נגררת לאורך צד הגינה, והבריכה והעצים כמה צעדים מהספה. רצפת בטון, קיר בטון אחד, שטיח משבצות, כיסאות וישבון סביב שולחן האוכל. האור נכנס מכל הכיוונים. בתים כאלה קל לאהוב וקשה לתלות בהם אמנות, כי הנוף כבר עושה את העבודה שציור עושה בדרך כלל.
זה אף פעם לא היה פרויקט להרבה עבודות. הבית היה זקוק למרכז רגשי: מקום אחד שבו העין נוחתת ונחה, חזק מספיק כדי לעמוד לצד הגינה בלי להתחרות בה. קיר הבטון שליד הספה, מתחת לפסי התאורה, היה הקיר המובן מאליו. השאלות הפתוחות היו מה שייך אליו, באיזה קנה מידה, ובאיזו פלטה מול כל האפור והירוק האלה.
עבודה דיגיטלית פיגורטיבית אחת בקנה מידה גדול: פני אישה בפרופיל, נמסים לתוך ענן של ורדים אדומים על רקע תכלת חיוור, במסגרת שחורה דקה. מול הבטון זה הצבע הרווי היחיד בחדר, וכך זה היה צריך להיות. הדמות נותנת לחלל אדם, האדום נותן לו דופק, והגודל מאפשר לה להחזיק את כל החלל הפתוח, משולחן האוכל בקצה הרחוק ועד הספה שמתחתיה. עבודה אחת, ולבית יש מרכז.
הפיתוי בבית פתוח וגדול הוא למלא אותו. המשמעת היא למצוא את היצירה האחת שיכולה לשאת את החדר ולדייק את קנה המידה והפלטה שלה לקיר הזה, וזה משהו שאני בודקת בכל פרויקט בחדר עצמו, באור יום ובתאורת הערב, לפני שמפיקים משהו. ואז הפקה בגודל מלא, מסגור, והתקנה על בטון עם התאורה מכוונת לעבודה. קונספט, בחירה, לוגיסטיקה והתקנה, מקצה לקצה, וסיום רק כשהעבודה היתה תלויה והלקוחות היו מרוצים ממנה.

The living space runs the full width of the house under one dark timber beam, with sliding glass along the garden side and the pool and the trees a few steps from the sofa. Concrete floor, one concrete wall, a checked rug, wishbone chairs at the dining table. Light comes in from everywhere. Homes like this are easy to love and hard to hang art in, because the view is already doing the work a painting usually does.
This was never a project for many works. The house needed an emotional center: one place where the eye lands and rests, strong enough to stand beside the garden without competing with it. The concrete wall beside the sofa, under the track lights, was the obvious wall. The open questions were what belonged on it, at what scale, and in what palette against all that grey and green.
A single large scale figurative digital artwork: a woman's face in profile, dissolving into a cloud of red roses on a pale blue ground, in a thin black frame. Against the concrete it is the only saturated color in the room, and it needed to be. The figure gives the space a person, the red gives it a pulse, and the scale lets it hold the whole open plan, from the dining table at the far end to the sofa beneath it. One work, and the house has a center.
The temptation in a large open home is to fill it. The discipline is to find the one piece that can carry the room and get its scale and palette right for that wall, which on every project I check in the room itself, in daylight and under the evening lighting, before anything is produced. Then production at full size, framing, and installation on concrete with the lights set to the work. Concept, selection, logistics and installation, handled end to end, and finished only when the work was up and the clients were happy with it.
